Paul Ryan Promises To Make America Suffer More GOP Obstructionism In 2016

Since President Obama was elected in 2008, Republicans have made it their mission to obstruct him at every turn. The 113th Congress became the laziest in history and earned the name of “Do-Nothing Congress” for their refusal to pass any substantive legislation, and instead, made blocking Obama their number one legislative goal.

The Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, and former Speaker of the House John Boehner encouraged their colleagues destructive, anti-Democratic actions. When Boehner was forced into retirement and Paul Ryan was elected as the new speaker, Americans hoped that maybe Congress would start to function again — but those hopes have now been dashed.

Speaker Ryan’s first official act in his new position was to pass a $1.1 trillion budget. When it was signed into law by President Obama, we saw a light at the end of a long, unproductive congressional tunnel and thought that, perhaps, Ryan was not going to beholden to the Tea Party extremists who are ruining his party.

It’s not that Ryan is the most moderate lawmaker, but he has always been a serious one — misguided, but serious. Unfortunately, the imbeciles in the GOP didn’t like that Ryan actually did his job and immediately started whining that he didn’t shut the government down — like his predecessor did in the disastrous 2013 shutdown.

In order to appease his detractors, the new Speaker of the House promised more of the same:

When we return in January, the House will put an Obamacare repeal bill on the floor and pass it and put it on the president’s desk.We are going to keep working to give families relief from this law while we work to dismantle and replace it altogether.

To be clear, Republicans have already “repealed” Obamacare nearly sixty times and they have never had a veto-proof majority. But, it isn’t so much about the act, what this really means is that Paul Ryan is going to continue the same obstructionism that Boehner championed.

The last year of the Obama administration is going to be a repeat of every year since 2010, with the GOP doing nothing while blaming Obama for everything. But, remember, according to these same lawmakers, Obama is a “tyrant” for using any executive action.
