When it comes to the National Enquirer, despite their reputation, they are rarely wrong when it comes to stories about political affairs. Need we remember Gary Hart, Jesse Jackson and John Edwards as their most infamous examples. The story alleges Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz (R-TX) had affairs with five known women, including one prostitute. The report details
“Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider.
“The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!”
The ENQUIRER reports that Cruz’s claimed mistresses include a foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney!
The lack of hard proof (yet) should urge caution to jumping to any conclusions, but there is some reason to believe what has been alleged is true, most notably that the National Enquirer posted photos of the women and in doing so opened itself up to a huge liability if what they say isn’t true. It’s unlikely that they would go out on a limb like this if they didn’t have a strong certainty that outlined the facts.
At least one of these women is recognizable and close to the Donald Trump campaign. Friday, the National Enquirer also came out in support of Trump’s campaign for president. It’s entirely likely he knew that this story was coming out or even fed it to the Enquirer. Given Trump’s threats on Twitter earlier this week when he warned Cruz he would “spill the beans” on Cruz’s wife.
An October story in New York Magazine confirms that this isn’t just a coincidence. They wrote about a source that wished to remain anonymous
Trump and Enquirer CEO David Pecker have been friends for years. “They’re very close,” said a source close to the Enquirer. In July 2013, Trump even tweeted that Pecker should become CEO of Time magazine, which at the time was being spun off from its corporate parent, Time Warner. “He’d make it exciting and win awards!”
The source interviewed for that story also alleges that a Trump aligned source was responsible for anti-Carson articles that brought out the surgical mistakes that Carson made that became an attack on his reputation.
Three of the five women have been identified by social media and people are starting to come clean about what they know.

You can also search under the Twitter hashtag #TheThing for information on Ted Cruz’s affairs. If you scroll through to the beginning you notice that Rubio supporters began tweeting about #TheThing weeks ago.

Hopefully the Cruz campaign will come out with the truth soon. A nice Jimmy Swaggert moment when he quits the campaign would be interesting to watch.
In the end, there have been plenty of sex scandals on the left and the right. People often criticize Democrats and liberals for being so willing to attack the right for their sexual indiscretions. The difference in a Democratic sex scandal and a Republican sex scandal is that Democrats don’t play the “family values” card. You can’t serve as a leader in a moral religious movement, have a number of affairs and sex scandals and then try to pretend that you’re holier than thou. That just makes you a hypocrite and an opportunist. If you want to claim to be the right-wing, conservative, Christian candidate you have to actually live that life. Ted Cruz does not.
