Just when you thought this presidential campaign season couldn’t get any weirder, Donald Trump becomes a real comic book villain.
Well, sort of.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Marvel Comics gave a classic comic book villain a Trump makeover for a special Spider-Gwen Annual #1 comic. The Trumptized villain is called M.O.D.A.A.K – short for Mental Organism Designed As America’s King. The new villain is a variation of a marvel villain known as M.O.D.O.K (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing). Here’s a picture of the original M.O.D.A.K.
Marvel’s adaptation of a character known for his big head and tiny hands was no accident, in fact, the M.O.D.A.A.K character has even smaller hands than the original version. In the comic, M.O.D.A.A.K orders around a dark-skinned minion referring to him as “foreign filth.” The villain then proclaims:
“If America will not act, M.O.D.A.A.K must!” referencing his plan to take over the U.S.
The Spider-Gwen series is set is an alternate spin on the Spider-man franchise. In this variation, Peter Parker (Spider-Man) dies, and Gwen Stacy (Parker’s girlfriend) takes up the mantle and becomes Spider-Woman.
But in the story, another hero, Samantha Wilson (the Captain America of that universe) does battle with the evil M.O.D.A.A.K. Wilson has the traditional Captain America shield, but also carries a special baseball bat named “hot sauce,” (a hat tip to Beyoncé’s album Lemonade.)
At one point in the story, M.O.D.A.A.K gets cracked by on his head by Wilson’s shield while saying “Must make America…”
There’s no word yet from Trump or his legal team about this, but rest assured they’ll be looking into it. In the meantime, be sure to keep an eye out for this really cool political souvenir.
