Donald Trump’s running mate is taking a beating after he failed to condemn ex-KKK leader David Duke on Monday evening.
During an appearance on the Situation Room, Mike Pence refused to stoop to “name-calling” when CNN host Wolf Blitzer asked him if he considered ex-KKK leader David Duke to be “deplorable.”
Pence got visibly irritated when Blitzer brought up Hillary Clinton’s recent revelation that Trump’s main base of supporters consists of white supremacists.
“I’m not really sure why the media keeps bring up David Duke’s name, “Pence began. “Donald Trump has denounced David Duke repeatedly and we don’t want his support. We don’t want the support of people who think like him.”
“Would you call him a deplorable?” Blitzer pressed.
“No, I’m not in the name-calling business, Wolf. You know me better than that,” the GOP vice-presidential nominee replied. ” What Hillary Clinton did the Friday night was shocking.”
You can watch the segment here:
Clinton tweeted out a response almost immediately, blasting him for his failure to condemn the former grand wizard of the KKK.
If you won’t say the KKK is deplorable, you have no business running the country. https://t.co/mFut8Qrz9A

The rest of Twitter was not far behind, slamming the former Indiana governor for not flat out denouncing Duke and admitting that he is absolutely “deplorable.”
Maybe Clinton's "deplorables" comment doesn't look so bad (no that they were bad, anyway) after Pence refused to call David Dude deplorable.

BLITZER: Would you call David Duke "deplorable?"
PENCE: I'm not in the name-calling business. If I was, I'd probably just call him "Dave"
