Mike Huckabee, in a speech at that Presidential Family Forum, made it abundantly clear that he failed civics class if he ever took it. He apparently has a beef with the Supreme Court, so he wants to take them out of the picture and give all the power to the executive branch – as long as a Republican is in office, presumably.
“It’s not the law of the land if the court rules,” Huckabee incorrectly stated, “because the court cannot make law.”
Okay, he’s half right there. The court cannot make law, but they can interpret law, and yes, once the Supreme Court rules, it is the law of the land.
“I’m convinced the next president should ignore the unconstitutional and illegal rulings of the courts, including that of same-sex marriage because it is not the law of the land,” Huckabee continued.
Oh, but he’s not done there. He also assures the audience that there would be no abortion under a Huckabee administration. I hate to break it to you, former Governor, but abortions have always happened and they will always happen. You just want to take doctors out of the equation.
