Republican Sen. John McCain said on Monday that Senate Republicans are planning to block any SCOTUS nominee picked by Hillary Clinton – without even seeing who they may be – should she win the presidency and would rather leave an empty seat on the highest court in the land. Because f*ck the Constitution, right?
During an interview on the Dom Giordano program on 1210 WPHT Philadelphia radio, McCain said that Republicans will be “united against any Supreme Court nominee” chosen by Clinton.
“I promise you that we will be united against any Supreme Court nominee that Hillary Clinton, if she were president, would put up,” McCain said. “I promise you. This is where we need the majority and Pat Toomey is probably as articulate and effective on the floor of the Senate as anyone I have encountered.”
His party’s nominee, Donald Trump, has provided a list of 21 people he would consider to fill seats on the Supreme Court and has promised that he would choose from this list. However, the Arizona Senator doesn’t necessarily think that any of Trump’s SCOTUS picks would be any better, nor does he trust him to stay true to his word.
“Uh, first of all, I don’t know, because I hear him saying a lot of different things,” McCain said.
McCain also commented on his decision to revoke his endorsement from the GOP nominee following the release of the Access Hollywood tapes that featured Trump bragging about how he was able to sexually assault any random women that he finds attractive thanks to his celebrity status.
