Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) is on board with the Republican Agenda to bomb Iran at any cost, including his own credibility. Appearing on the religious-right radio show “Washington Watch,” Gohmert made it clear what his intentions towards Iran are:
We need to make clear to Iran: You can play these silly games with our president that buys into them and our secretary of state, but the American people aren’t buying it and you’re going to pay a price.
I’m hoping and praying the president will realize, despite the agenda he has that has put Christians in jeopardy around the world, that he will not want to leave the Democratic Party so devastated that they won’t recover for many decades, that maybe he’ll start being more helpful to Israel instead of slapping them around as an unwelcomed visitor and start treating them like a friend. And maybe once he starts doing that he’ll realize we do need to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities that we know of and anything that they move to fix, we bomb that as well.
We bomb, then we bomb some more. We assume that Iran is and always will be opposed to diplomatic relations with not only America, but the rest of the UN. We take the stubbornness of the past 30 years, disregard the fact that our President has made great strides towards a relationship with a country that opposes ISIS, and bomb them.
And then bomb them some more.
Gohmert knows as much about foreign policy as reality, using a few trademark GOP conspiracy theories to bolster his case. He conjured the completely debunked story that the President said he’d shoot down any Israeli planes headed towards Iran, an un-sourced report out of Kuwait.
Gohmert tossed in some good old-fashioned fire-and-brimstone to support his position:
I’m just grateful that Netanyahu had announced there will be no two-state solution because, as you mentioned, [End Times author] Joel Rosenberg, he loves to point out in his favorite book, Joel, that Chapter 3, God says I am going to bring down judgment on nations that divide Israel. So I’d kind of hate to be a part of the nation that divides Israel.
Again referencing the convoluted conspiracies about the President, Gohmert brought up the ridiculous lie that Obama told the Nigerians he wouldn’t help fight Boko Haram unless the country legalized same-sex marriage.
And of course, the entire country can blame their problems on the President’s support of the “homosexual agenda.”
Crackpots will be crackpots.
