Call it “Trump family values,” I guess. Should it come as any surprise that Donald Trump’s son, Donald Jr., seems to have some of the same opinions about women as his caveman father?
Trump Jr. recently got caught deleting a 2011 tweet in which he noted that sexually harassing women is ok if you’re a good-looking celebrity. In that tweet, Junior commented that if you look like singer Mark McGrath, you could “sexually harass the hell out of anyone.” And now some more words of The Donald’s “Mini Me” are coming back to haunt him.
Buzzfeed has uncovered a 2013 appearance by Junior on the SiriusXM shock-jock show Opie and Anthony, during which he joked about workplace harassment along with the hosts. (It’s worth noting that one of that show’s former hosts, Anthony Cumia, was fired in 2014 after a series of racist tweets, and in December 2015 he was arrested on charges of beating his girlfriend.)
The conversation was about whether women should be allowed to join all-male golf clubs. Junior, who describes himself as a “guy’s guy,” says “If you have a guy’s place, you have a guy’s place.”
One of the hosts agrees with that, saying in a mocking voice that women whine “it’s harassment” and adding “That’s why we hate having them around. They stop us from doing what we want to do.” Guys just want to talk about “things” and if they can’t do that, “you’re having a boring fricking conversation,” he says.
Junior agrees with the assessment that men can’t be “men” if women are around, saying,
“I’m of that mindset — and I’ll get into trouble, I’m sure I’ll get myself in trouble one of these days. If you can’t handle some of the basic stuff that’s become a problem in the workforce today, then you don’t belong in the workforce. Like, you should go maybe teach kindergarten. I think it’s a respectable position.”
In other words, if a woman doesn’t want to be sexually harassed or forced to listen to off-color jokes, she should just go do a job where (at least in Trump Jr.’s mind) there are only other women and children around. That way “guy’s guys” like Junior can be free to say whatever they please about women.
And Junior doesn’t seem to understand that harassment isn’t something that happens one time and never repeats itself. It’s a pattern of behavior. Someone may tolerate a remark or a joke once or twice, but everyone has a breaking point. This comment shows he has no clue about that:
“I can play along, I can be fine, and then I can decide randomly — ‘Uh oh, you now have crossed the line, even though I’ve been going with it.'”
Donald Trump Jr. is the same worthless piece of dung that his father is, and he has repeatedly proved it. But that should be news to exactly no one. As the great comedian Redd Foxx once joked, “Follow an ugly kid home, and see don’t somebody ugly open the door for him.”
