Benghazi is proving to be like Big Brother; that is, a shitty reality tv show that will never end. In case you only watch Fox News and therefore had doubts that this entire investigation was anything but a cynical effort to kill Hillary’s 2016 campaign (even though this much was accidentally confirmed by Kevin McCarthy), yesterday’s hearings should’ve removed all doubt. Indeed, we can no go back to the next manufactured outrage du jour.
But seeing as these hearings did occur, and Hillary Clinton had to testify, it’s important to remind everyone of the 13 embassy attacks that occurred on George Bush’s watch.
Opportunistic and duplicitous Republicans, pissing away tax dollars to kill (it actually helped) Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, would love for you to believe that the Benghazi attacks were the first to ever happen. Sure–the attack resulted in the untimely death of a US Ambassador, which is something that hasn’t happen since the 1970s, but the fact remains that 13 embassy attacks occurred on George Bush’s watch.
Even though it’s now clear that the Benghazi hearing was indeed a witch hunt, we don’t imagine we’ll stop hearing the phrase Benghazi. For Republicans, saying Benghazi is like how the Sicilian from the Princess Bride kept saying “inconceivable”; I don’t think it means what they think it means. So it’s important to remind them of the embassy attacks that occurred under George Bush’s watch, especially with Thanksgiving coming up and potential conservative family members with Benghazi Tourette’s.
