GOP Decides Campaign Rally With Trump Is More Important Than Avoiding Shutdown – House In Chaos

Trump GOP Rally Shutdown

We have yet another government shutdown looming, and according to Democratic Representative Jim McGovern, House Republicans have decided to help Trump campaign in Pennsyvlania instead of doing real work; they’ve actually delayed a vote on a short-term spending bill that would keep the government operating. This is probably the most egregious act yet that proves they’re the Party of Republicans Over America, because this rally is for a special election that won’t be held until March. And while news reports say that Republicans are scrambling to find the votes to avoid a shutdown, Democratic Rep. Jim McGovern has some choice words for his fellow reps across the aisle.

McGovern posted this video to Twitter, blasting his fellow representatives on the House floor earlier:

He’s not the only one who feels this way, either. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer tweeted his frustration with Republicans, too:

While some are trying to claim that this isn’t a campaign rally, we all know the truth. Trump tweeted that he was heading to Pennsylvania to campaign for the GOP candidate, and plans to be very involved in the election process going into the 2018 midterms. In fact, he flat out said yesterday:

“I am going to spend probably four or five days a week helping people because we need more Republicans. I will be very much involved with – beyond the primaries – with the election itself, very very much.”

The truth is that Trump desperately needs crowds of people oozing adoration or he just can’t function, and Republicans are increasingly catering to that. Pennsylvania’s special election is to replace disgraced Rep. Tim Murphy, who resigned after he admitted to cheating on his wife, and the GOP is desperate to hold onto every single last seat they can and pretend like Trump isn’t the kiss of death that he is.

The Party of Passing the Buck keeps trying to blame Democrats for the shutdown threat, despite the fact that they control both Congress and the White House. They’re doing everything they can to avoid responsibility for this, but this latest stunt just causes a shutdown to land even harder in their laps. They don’t actually care about a shutdown – they care about power and politics. Otherwise, they’d all be there working to pass a spending bill.
