During a recent town hall meeting, Mike Pence, who is the governor of Indiana and vice presidential running mate of Donald Trump, had a direct message to both pro-life and pro-choice supporters regarding the future of a woman’s right to choose once Trump claims the Oval Office.
“We’ll see Roe vs. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs.
While we’re choosing a president for the next four years, this next president will make decisions that will impact our Supreme Court for the next 40. Go tell your neighbors and your friends, for the sake of the rule of law, for the sake of sanctity of life, for the sake of our Second Amendment, for the sake of all our other God-given liberties, we must insure the next president appointing justices to the Supreme Court is Donald Trump.”
Meanwhile, there are reports which indicate that Trump is more than willing to hand over all domestic and foreign policy matters to his number two while he focuses on being a glorified pitchman for “making America great again.”
These remarks start to bring into focus a very dark picture of America’s future under Trump’s reign. He openly admits that he intends on being the biggest puppet president in history, by allowing his vice president to effectively govern the country. Pence’s power will make Dick Cheney look like a freshman White House staffer.
This election is no joke. For all the “Bernie or Bust” supporters out there still patting themselves on the back for “rebelling against the system,” you can take partial credit for women losing their right to govern their own bodies should Trump become president.
Hillary Clinton may be a corporate Democrat, but she’s the only viable choice for anyone who cares about progressive issues. It’s not difficult; it’s simple. If you don’t like her, then get out and build up enough liberal politicians who will be able to challenge her in 2020 for the party’s nomination, should she fail to deliver.
But to throw the country off a cliff just because Hillary Clinton isn’t perfect is lunacy and will most certainly do lasting harm to both the progressive platform in future elections.
Don’t let this happen. Even if you have to hold your nose, vote Blue no matter what or don’t be shocked when Trump and Pence do exactly what they told you they would do.
