Calling for unprecedented surveillance of Muslims, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump has taken a page right out of Hitler’s Nazi Germany with calls to establish national databases and special identification for Muslims living in the United States. In an interview with Yahoo News, the billionaire mogul conceded that the public would not be happy with such a proposal:
We’re going to have to do thing that we never did before. Some people are going to be upset about it, but I think that now everybody is feeling that security is going to rule. Certain things will be done that we never thought would happen in this country in terms of information and learning about the enemy. We’re going to have to do things that were frankly unthinkable a year ago.
And what are the “things” Donald Trump is considering? Warrantless searches and spying, closing mosques, and the most outrageous plan: registering all U.S. Muslims into a national database and/or giving them special identification which identifies their faith.
How would Trump ID these people? Yellow stars, perhaps?
Anyone who can’t see the parallel between this and the worst human rights atrocity committed in the modern world should not be allowed to vote.
Republicans say President Obama shreds the Constitution? Republicans say President Obama is an imperialist tyrant? I say Republicans are on the verge of electing a man who is just that — a tyrant who wants to unconstitutionally invoke mass surveillance of an entire group of people.

How would Trump enforce this? He would bring former New York Police Department Commissioner Ray Kelly into his administration. Kelly, who has clashed numerous times with civil liberties groups for lack of transparency and rights violations, was infamously busted by the Associated Press for its extensive database collection of Muslim communities. Under Kelly’s watch, the NYPD surveilled Muslim grocery sales, their social lives and even their worship in their mosques.
This is the exact kind of persecution the refugees in Syria are trying to escape. The radicals in ISIS have instilled fear and a constant surveillance on well-to-do Muslims…now Republicans in the United States are seeking to do the same.
So first he wants to monitor Muslims, then who’s next? People that speak out against him?
