After a slew of bad responses to the Oregon UCC shooting, I thought that Republicans would wise up and stop saying stupid things. As you can see below, I was proven wrong by them yet again. Ben Carson made probably the worst statement yet by any of the GOP presidential hopefuls during a Q&A session on his Facebook page last night
Read the sickening post below, straight from Ben Carson’s Facebook Page:
The first question tonight comes from Dan. He wants to know if the tragedy has altered my position as a supporter of the Second Amendment.
Dan, I grew up in the slums of Detroit. I saw plenty of gun violence as a child. Both of my cousins were killed on the streets. As a Doctor, I spent many a night pulling bullets out of bodies. There is no doubt that this senseless violence is breathtaking – but I never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away. Serious people seek serious solutions. The Left would prefer to use these tragedies to advance a political agenda. To me, that is also devastatingly sad. The Left would have you believe that a man that asked Christians to stand up (and then executed them one by one) would obey ‘new gun laws.’ That kind of logic explains many of the problems we find ourselves in today.
What does anyone even say to that? Ben Carson literally said that no amount of human tragedy, violence, carnage or gore is scarier than taking away our “right” to arm ourselves.
Really, I got nothing on this one folks. I thought brain surgeons were smart, as in the phrase “it isn’t brain surgery” to mean something is easy.
Perhaps Ben should ask how scary it is to be a parent of a child — or other family, friend, or loved one — who was murdered by a gun. Perhaps he should review the crime scene photos from Sandy Hook that showed a classroom of first graders with pieces blown off their body from an assault rifle. Is this scarier than some greasy redneck ammosexual being too afraid to come out of his basement because he can’t buy a freakin’ gun?
Then, to top it all off, Carson used the tragedy to promote himself by asking people to “support the families” of victims by changing their profile picture.
Ben, on behalf of Progressive America, SCREW YOU. You do not get to trivialize the trauma and violence inflicted on gun murder victims, the suffering of their families that is enabled by loose gun laws, and the general paranoia and unease that normal people feel living in America. You do not get to use this to pander to Christians, or aggrandize yourself. Shame on you Ben.
