Another day, another Fox News flub. Today it was former actress from “Clueless” turn “Fox & Friends” co-host Stacey Dash who said that BET and Black History Month should be done away with. Dash is black, if you didn’t know. In fact, her point and purpose on “Fox & Friends” has always been the “race” girl, aka the co-host who talks about race and I guess, says things the others can’t?
“We have to make up our minds,” Dash said. “Either we want to have segregation or integration. And if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET (Black Entertainment Television) and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re Black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.”
Amusingly enough, this comes on the same week as the Academy Awards announced that no black actors and performers are nominated for an award. The second year in a row for it. So, actually there is a segregated awards ceremony, it’s called the Academy Awards! Black Hollywood has rightfully spent the week blowing up social media with complaints and jokes. It’ll be interesting how they react to Stacy Dash’s latest bit of cluelessness.
Co-host Steve Doocy seemed a little shocked and tried to confirm she really wanted BET to fold up.
“Just like there shouldn’t be a Black History Month. You know? We’re Americans. Period. That’s it,” she said taking it even further.
Doocy also asked “Are you saying there shouldn’t be a Black History Month because there isn’t a white history month?”
“Exactly. Exactly,” Dash said nodding.
So exciting that Stacy Dash has solved centuries of racial strife in America. Well done.
