Clint Eastwood Gives Bonkers Justification For Supporting Trump, Shreds Credibility

Clint Eastwood is a very good actor and director. Unfortunately, he’s not always a very good thinker. Nowhere has that been more clear than in a recent sit down with Esquire in which Eastwood laid out a reason to support Trump that was so devoid of reason, it’s hard to look at Eastwood the same way ever again.

Joined by his son, struggling actor Scott Eastwood, Clint explained how he can support Trump – even while acknowledging the Republican nominee seems like a racist buffoon. It comes down to hating young people.

[Trump’s] onto something, because secretly everybody’s getting tired of political correctness, kissing up. That’s the kiss-ass generation we’re in right now. We’re really in a pussy generation. Everybody’s walking on eggshells. We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist.

For reference, Clint Eastwood grew up during the 50s and 60s, a time when it was still legal to bar African Americans from using the same water fountain as white Americans. His America was very racist, the modern country is less so, but not without lingering racial problems.

Eastwood seems to acknowledge this, by admitting Trump does say things that come across as racist – but only because of political correctness run amok.

I haven’t endorsed anybody. I haven’t talked to Trump. I haven’t talked to anybody. You know, he’s a racist now because he’s talked about this judge. And yeah, it’s a dumb thing to say. I mean, to predicate your opinion on the fact that the guy was born to Mexican parents or something. He’s said a lot of dumb things. So have all of them. Both sides. But everybody—the press and everybody’s going, “Oh, well, that’s racist,” and they’re making a big hoodoo out of it. Just fucking get over it. It’s a sad time in history.

Fact check: No, both sides have not openly accused a federal judge of being biased against them because of their “Mexican heritage.” Only one side has done that. Eastwood’s side. Furthermore, Eastwood’s command to “get over it” is a bit hard to swallow given the vicious way Trump has gone after minorities. It may not seem this way to Eastwood, but for a Muslim American or a Hispanic American or America’s women, the stakes of this election are very high. Looking away won’t make it disappear.

And finally, Eastwood lets the veil completely slip. He’s voting Trump because…something something Obama!

I’d have to go for Trump … you know, ’cause she’s declared that she’s gonna follow in Obama’s footsteps. There’s been just too much funny business on both sides of the aisle. She’s made a lot of dough out of being a politician. I gave up dough to be a politician. I’m sure that Ronald Reagan gave up dough to be a politician.

There it is, folks. Vote for Trump because Hillary Clinton is greedy. You can’t make it up.
