On this past Friday’s Morning Joe, Chuck Todd of Meet the
Republicans Press appeared to discuss Alison Lundergan Grimes refusal to answer whether she voted for President Obama or not.
Her refusal to answer stemmed from Senator McConnell’s (R-KY) attempts to paint Grimes as an “Obama Democrat.” In more Liberal parts of the country, this may not seem like an issue. However, in Conservative Kentucky, this kind of label can mean the difference between winning and losing the election.
A gift to the McConnell campaign

Did you catch the gift that Chuck Todd gave to the McConnell Campaign? If you missed it, go back and watch it one more time to if you can pick out the golden nugget.

No good answer
There was no good answer for Alison Lundergan Grimes. If she said no, she appears to turn her back on President Obama and all the good that he has done. If she said yes, then McConnell has all he needs to paint her as that awful “Obama Democrat.” The question had no bearing on the Kentucky midterm election. It was the definition of a “gotcha question.”
While her answer may have caused a short term stir, the real soundbite came courtesy of so-called journalist Chuck Todd.
For his part, Todd did not seem too pleased with being used for a campaign plug. Todd sent an email to The Huffington Post discussing his comments.
“I don’t take back my analysis,” Todd continued. “But no journalist likes to be used in a TV ad. It is cheap and likely useless. And McConnell has hidden himself from questions for months. This is a highly cynical campaign we are witnessing in Kentucky. Very uninspiring debate.”
The waning power of Chuck Todd
Perhaps Mr. Todd will be more careful with his words in the future.
When NBC brought in Chuck Todd, they hoped to recover credibility (ratings) among Americans. Unfortunately, that turn around has been slow coming. Seeing the biased and unprofessional nature of Mr. Todd in not only his comments, but also the way he runs Meet the Press, it is no wonder why.
