Don’t worry about studying the post-debate reaction polls, the winner of the first presidential debate was written all over Trump’s face. Clinton demolished him and he seemed to know it. In the moments after the debate, Trump was in a decidedly terrible mood and he was taking it out on everyone around him.
First he got physical with a female reporter.

Then on the way to his car, he threw a temper tantrum in front of his family, his friends… and MSNBC’s rolling cameras. The shocking footage was picked up by hosts Brian Williams and Rachel Maddow who paused their discussion about the nuances of the debate and instead delivered an impromptu live commentary on Trump’s unfolding meltdown. It was something to watch.
Via Crooks and Liars:
Footage begins with Trump having a serious discussion with his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and things start to get heated quickly. Soon, Trump has gathered most of his staff and many of his children and appears to be getting angry. At one point, Ivanka Trump seemingly tries to calm him down. It doesn’t work.
Brian Williams: We would kill to have audio. Donald Trump was just making an emphatic point and having a conversation with his son-in-law Jared Kushner and now talking to an aide.
Rachel Maddow: We’re not exactly sure what the hang up here is, but if we could just keep our camera on this just for a second. Donald Trump is here with his children and some of his staffers. I don’t know if something is going wrong here or…
An MSNBC contributor jumps in to float the (remote) possibility that they are just arguing about where to get post-debate takeout. Maddow summed it up nicely: “Well we’ll see. They’re leaving in an interestingly disorderly way.”
The more likely scenario: Trump blew it. His family knows it. His staff knows it. Trump knows it, but is furious. And America gets a taste of Trump’s “presidential temperament.” Yikes.
