Almost since the day Donald Trump stepped into the presidential race, people have speculated that maybe he’s a Democratic plant. After all, he was a Democrat in the past, and he’s certainly doing enough damage to the party that there could be some truth to this rumor.
According to anonymous sources (which admittedly are the worst kind — but there are enough of them to give this seemingly outrageous theory some validity), Trump announced his candidacy shortly after a conversation with Bill Clinton. One Clinton associate and four of Trump’s people said that Clinton encouraged Trump to take a bigger role in the Republican party. Clinton’s office confirmed the call, which took place in May, but they said the race was never discussed.
The tone of the call was informal, and Clinton never urged Trump to run, the four people said. Rather, they said, Clinton sounded curious about Trump’s moves toward a presidential bid and told Trump that he was striking a chord with frustrated conservatives and was a rising force on the right.
One person with knowledge of Clinton’s end of the call said the former president was upbeat and encouraging during the conversation, which occurred as Trump was speaking out about GOP politics and his prescriptions for the nation.

Before jumping on the conspiracy bandwagon, we have to point out that in the past Trump donated to both parties — although, surprisingly, from 1989-2011, a larger percentage of his donations went to Democratic candidates. However, for the last five years, most of his donations have been to Republicans.
The real question is, why is he flip-flopping — especially since he is a well know for being blatantly racist since…forever? Let’s take a look at his record, shall we?
- In 1973, Trump was sued by the Justice Department for discriminating against African-Americans by violating the Fair Housing Act.
- In 1989 he rabidly advocated bringing back the death penalty in New York for five black teenagers who were accused of a brutal rape and assault. The teens were convicted but later exonerated by DNA evidence.
- In 2000 he said that Native American casinos were in with the mob.
- And, to top it all off, he supposedly “fired” a black contestant on his reality show because she was too educated.
While it is interesting that Trump and Bill Clinton seem to have a friendship (or whatever rich white men call their relationships) I am more intrigued by the idea that Clinton completely played Trump.
If so, bravo, Mr. President!
