In an irony that will forever change one American idiom, Ben Carson has managed to prove that brain surgeon is not synonymous with smart.
This is a man who is now leading in the polls for calling Obamacare worse than slavery and 9/11, for comparing gay marriage to bestiality, for comparing Democrats to Nazis, for saying prison makes people gay, and who can’t distinguish between the budget and the debt ceiling.
It seems that his opinion of many Americans mirrors the opinion that many Americans (especially Democrats) have about Carson. He says many aren’t smart. This quote came from a book tour speech at the Richard Nixon library on October 19, 2014. He spoke about liberals:
They can twist and turn things as much as they want. But what they don’t understand—and they miscalculated. They were doing a great job in terms of fundamentally changing this nation. In terms of infiltrating the school systems. In terms of infiltrating the media. All of this—they’ve done a great job. Everything was perfect. Except they underestimated the intelligence of the American people. The people are not as stupid as they think they are. Many of them are stupid. Okay. But I’m talking about overall.
I hate to agree with Carson, but many are stupid. They are the 29 percent of Republicans who think Carson is presidential material. Fortunately, that’s not enough to win the presidency.
