8 Republicans F*ck McConnell Over, Meet With SCOTUS Nominee

On Wednesday morning, President Obama told the Republican Party to kiss his ass and nominated Judge Merrick Garland to fill the Supreme Court seat Justice Scalia vacated when he died in February. Since the death of their favorite SCOTUS justice, the GOP has promised to obstruct Obama and not even meet with his pick for the highest court. As a matter of fact, just moments after the president’s press conference in the Rose Garden, Senator Mitch McConnell reiterated this, but apparently his colleagues didn’t get the message.

After Obama’s announcement, McConnell said:

The next justice could fundamentally alter the direction of the Supreme Court and have a profound impact on our country. So, of course, the American people should have a say in the court’s direction. It is a president’s constitutional right to nominate a Supreme Court justice and it is the Senate’s constitutional right to act as a check on a president and withhold its consent…the Senate will continue to observe the Biden rule, so that the American people have a voice in this momentous decision.

It seems as though not everyone in the Republican Party wants to ignore the Constitution and not even consider the nominee, though. PoliticusUSA reported:

Mitch McConnell’s plan to obstruct President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland, by holding no meetings, hearings, or votes is coming closer to collapse as eight Senate Republicans have stated that they will meet with the nominee.

Those Senators are: Sen. Susan Collins (Maine); Sen. Rob Portman (OH); Sen. Jeff Flake (AZ); Sen. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.); Sen. Thad Cochran (Miss.); Sen. Jim Inhofe (OK); Sen. Mark Kirk (Ill) and even the person McConnell thought he could count on the most: Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley.

It’s absolutely dumbfounding that McConnell  has continued this ridiculous tantrum and is still trying to obstruct the President from doing what he has every right to do. Now that these eight senators have come to their senses, I wonder how long before McConnell folds or throws another public hissy fit.
