The obvious reasons are of course policy related. Republicans are opposed to anything sensible that would help the working poor, the middle class, those in need of help, the environment or anything else that doesn’t increase the bottom lines of their campaign donors.
These ten reasons are far more specific.
10.) Marco Rubio
“The Hispanic community understands the American dream and have not forgotten what they were promised”
The Senator loves to champion the cause of Latinos. Unfortunately he may be the most out of touch Hispanic man of all time.
9.) Bobby Jindal
“It’s time to update traditional public schools, charter schools, home schools, online schools and parochial schools. Let the dollars follow the child instead of forcing the child to follow the dollars, so that every child has the opportunity to attain an education.”
The quote is of course all about privatization. Jindal wants to hand money to private schools run by campaign donors while at the same time slashing higher education funds to give tax breaks to the wealthy.
8.) Chris Christie
“I don’t compromise my principles for politics”
Christie has proven time and time again that he has no principles to compromise. Electing this man to anything ever again would make the Republican Party the laughing-stock of the world.
7.) Rick Santorum
“I love it when the left and when the president say, ‘Don’t try to impose your values on us, you folks who hold your Bibles in your hand and cling to your guns.’ They have values too. Our values are based on religion, based on life. Their values are based on a religion of self.”
Santorum’s values are based on cash. His “Christian values” have nothing to do with Christianity. Holding your bible in one hand and your gun in the other, as he puts it, proves that beyond the shadow of a doubt.
6.) Donald Trump
“Love him or hate him, Trump is a man who is certain about what he wants and sets out to get it, no holds barred. Women find his power almost as much of a turn-on as his money.”
Let’s go with “hate him.” First off, speaking of yourself in the third-person shows just what a narcissist you are, and secondly, your idiotic and extremely sexist comment about women makes any realistic run at the highest office in the land nothing but a really bad joke.
5.) Rick Perry
“The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land we inhabit are not only critical elements in the quality of life we enjoy - they are a reflection of the majesty of our Creator.”
In Perry’s tenure as Governor of Texas he allowed fracking and oil production to consume the landscape, saw unmitigated destruction of public park lands and had zero to say on environmental issues other than to tout the modest improvement in Texas air quality, which was caused by federal mandates, not his. Sit back down, Rick. We like our planet.
4.) Scott Walker
“What makes America amazing is that there have always been men and women of courage who were willing to think more about the future of their children and grandchildren than they did about their own political careers.”
That’s why Walker slashed education to give tax breaks to the wealthy and destroyed the unions in Wisconsin to make his campaign donors happy, leading to the utter destruction of his state’s economy. It was all for the children.
3.) Rand Paul
“Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so.”
This kind of idiotic thinking is exactly why we can’t afford someone like Rand Paul. Article III section II of the constitution grants judicial authority to the Supreme Court in “all cases in law and equity” under the document. Your statement may be the dumbest thing anyone who claims to be a “constitutional conservative” has ever said.
2.) Ted Cruz
“Is it true that the American people are war-weary? Absolutely. We are tired of sending our sons and daughters to distant lands year after year after year, to give their lives trying to transform foreign nations.”
Cruz signed the letter to Iran letting them know he in no way wants peace with them or any agreements that may end in our NOT bombing them. He is a warmonger who supports putting boots on the ground wherever and whenever possible, because war is good for business.
1.) Jeb Bush
“It’s been painful to see the people that you love be attacked when you know it’s not fair or true.”
Not fair or true? Your brother came perilously close to destroying our economy permanently. His actions and lies sent thousands of Americans to their death in a war based on deceit. Had President Obama lost in 2008 and John McCain continued his policies, which is a certainty, we would right now be renaming the Great Depression “not so bad if you compare it to this.”
No. Just no. No more Bushes. No more. None. Be gone, we’re done with you.
This list certainly doesn’t cover all of the ineptitude the Republican Party has to offer. With jerks like Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina and…gulp…Sarah Palin still out there making fools of themselves this list could go on virtually forever.
The only positive thing about the Republican primary will be watching these fools tear each other to shreds, forcing them to flip-flop their positions as the political wind blows, as usual.

Just the look on their faces scares me.
Your reasoning for why you’re against Rand Paul is essentially this quote:
“Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so.”
And that has ALWAYS been true in this country. Plenty of Supreme Court decisions have been reversed before, and when there aren’t unanimous decisions by the court, that means “a couple people on the Supreme Court” decided that something was or wasn’t Constitutional and ended up being in the minority. If anything, your criticism of Rand Paul only proved that you, in fact, are the one that doesn’t understand how our system works.
Anybody can cherry-pick quotes, put them next to pictures of someone they don’t like, and spout once or two sentences about why they hate that person. This was a poorly written article and barely offered any kind of legitimate criticisms of proposed policies or the ideals of these guys. I consider myself more liberal than conservative, and I’m tired of seeing trash articles like this dilute the message and turn what should be legitimate debates and conversations about politics turn into meme battles and “we’re good, they’re evil; we’re right they’re wrong” rhetoric.
If you’re a liberal that wants to actually contribute to your party’s message, consider writing something in the future that has more credibility than something I could find on Buzzfeed.
Your comment pretty much proves you are conservative. And that’s okay. Those of us that are truly Liberal really do see the above men for who they are. But seeing as this is an opinion piece, it IS the writer’s opinion (even though it is truly the opinion of TONS of Liberals) I personally lost all respect for Rand Paul when he pretty much told the country that plagiarism was no big deal. Plagiarism is a big deal, you can get thrown out of any school for that. How dare he impose his logic onto our children? Of all the men above, who all profess to be Christian, none of them have really shown that they follow the teachings of Jesus, or the bible for that matter. The only passages they seem to know are ones that have to do with gay people or abortion, or they think they do. None of them have an appreciation for the biggest thing that God created, the earth and protecting it. Or that God created man in his own image and that he sent his son, not only that he may die for our sins, but to teach us to be better Christians and better human beings. When they start doing that, then I might consider voting for a Republican, until then, I am pretty sure I will vote Democrat for whatever years I have left. I am not saying they are evil, or even wrong, I am saying they don’t practice what they preach, if they did, the world would be far better off.
“Your comment pretty much proves you are conservative.”
How so? Because I criticized a liberal for writing a poor article? Because I defended Rand Paul? You can do those things and still be a liberal, you know. I support marriage equality, women’s rights, police reform, a less hawkish foreign policy, and an end to the war on drugs. The last time I checked, Fox News as a whole wasn’t super into a lot of that stuff.
“…when he pretty much told the country that plagiarism is no big deal.”
That’s also incorrect. He admitted to sloppy source citing (and nonexistent source citing in some cases,) but he never openly said that plagiarism isn’t a big deal, he just thinks he’s not totally guilty of it. Besides that, he even apologized and took responsibility for not crediting proper sources. Yeah, I have a problem with that whole situation, but I have a problem with just about every current candidate for President, and I don’t let those problems get in the way of doing research on each one of them.
“Of all the men above, who all profess to be Christian, none of them have really shown that they follow the teachings of Jesus, or the bible for that matter.”
I know of zero Christians in politics (or in general, for that matter,) that follow the Bible or the teachings of Jesus to a T. Being a Christian and knowing how sinful the nature of man is keeps me from being surprised by religious hypocrisy from both sides of the political spectrum.
I’m also not sure why you presented this argument as part of the reason why you chose to be a Democrat, because Democrats aren’t blameless when it comes to religious errs and professing to believe one thing while practicing another.
“Because I defended Rand Paul? You can do those things and still be a liberal”
I am pretty sure that not even one percent of Liberals would defend Rand Paul.
As far as the plagiarism thing, I did say he “pretty much told the country” and he DID act like it was no big deal. It took a lot of people making an issue of it before he broke down and apologized. He should have IMMEDIATELY called out his staff or at least proofed the speech before he read it, so as not to embarrass himself in front of his constituents, that was more sloppy than his staff errors.
I never said that all Christians followed the teachings to a T. What I said was, Conservatives are only Christian about 2 things. Homosexuality and abortion. They ignore the whole “live by the sword, die by the sword” thing as far as their weapons are concerned. They pick and choose.
I chose this argument to give my opinion as to why I think this guy got his opinion about ALL the candidates right. It looks like you picked and chose.
I am not a bible thumper, nor an extreme Christian, but I would NEVER vote for anyone that uses religion as a reason for his politics. The only good politician is one that does his best to work for his people. Period.
Now again, I will reiterate, this gentleman wrote this as an opinion piece, HIS opinion, but I will say it is probably the opinion of most Liberals, even the opinion of Rand Paul.
AMEN and AMEN. Well said!!
I know one thing you’ve proved. You’re a blow hard and a long winded one at that. Why don’t YOU go into politics. You are very good and droning on and on and on and on and on. My GOD. Run your head much?
A “couple of people” on the Supreme Court can have a dissenting opinion (they usually do, in fact, few SCOTUS decisions are unanimous), so Rand Paul actually does have this right, as far as he was quoted.
But majority opinions do become the law of the land, unless and until they are reversed. “Citizens United” is an excellent example of a bad SCOTUS decision that needs to be overturned, but until it is, it is still the law of the land.
Unfortunately, our present court is making its decisions based on the assumption that the most dysfunctional US Congress in history has the ability to “fix” bad laws.
CHANCE! SSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!! SHUSH! Rand Paul is an idiot. Anyway you slice it. No matter what quote you use, he’s an idiot. Does not need to be President. Stop talking, Chance. Dammit. Who elected you quote Police?
“spout once or two sentences about why they hate that person. This was a poorly written article . . . .” The irony.
I guess what they really need Is a clown bus.
Right. A short bus.
A free bus ride to Timbuktu.
Don’t forget Tom Walker the pencil neck!
It makes some people wonder if he was hanged for treason in a previous life.
The Party of Stupid is out there, let it stay out there.!!!!
There are a lot of things that I hate about Rand Paul, and I cannot think of any circumstance under which I would vote for him. He is a terrible candidate who is completely unqualified for the presidency. He made the statement, noted in the article, that “Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so,” and this is given as the reason that he is a bad candidate.
But the more I think about it, the more I think that he has a point with that quote. Are there any progressives (me included) that do not think that Citizens United was an absolute misinterpretation of the law, in declaring that corporations are people with a right to free speech and that dollars=speech? Because if we are going to call out Rand Paul for that statement, we also have to concede that recent terrible decisions, including Citizens United, Hobby Lobby, Galloway, and the complete decimation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, are now indeed constitutional. Because the SCOTUS says so. Yes, I realize that precedent has now been set by these decisions in that they were ruled constitutional by the SCOTUS, but I still do not believe that the SCOTUS was correct in these decisions. I believe that these decisions WERE unconstitutional.
The Republicans will destroy themselves, just sit back and wait.
10 REALLY REALLY GOOD REASONS NOT TO VOTE DEMOCRAT.
HILLARY HILLARY HILLARY HILLARY HILLARY HILLARY HILLARY HILLARY HILLARY AND HILLARY
Joe Langella, you just stick with the party of stupids. No one really cares.
REALLY? I suppose you think your the party of intellectuals?
If that were true then how come every idea progressive`s have fail to produce positive results? History don`t lie and don`t spin talking points and all you have done is make it worst for the middle class with you so called smart idea`s?
I’m going to create a list of “special” republicans.
See if you can make a comparative list.
Louie Gohmert
Joe Barton
Virginia Foxx
Sarah Palin
Andre Bauer
Michelle Bachmann
Steve King
Paul LePage
Trent Franks
Jim Bridenstine
Blake Farenthold
Sue Lowden
Jean Schmidt
Rick Perry
George W. Bush
Thanks, Joey!
You just gave 10 good reasons NOT to vote for a republican.
All that is left of the republican party are the very, very rich and those, like Joey here, stupid enough to vote republican and against their own best interests.
I’m not a fan of the Republican party, but this is a pretty poorly-written article. Many of these “really good reasons” written here just amount to “they’re stupid and I don’t like them,” with no actual examples or specific critiques.
Stop obsessing over partisan politics and start talking about actual issues.
Clearly over your head.
I have never understood why working class Americans would vote against their own best interest by voting Republican. Do they believe they are ‘voting for Jesus?’ If so, they need to reread their Bibles. Jesus was a flaming liberal, socialist, who was obsessed with the poor, and held distain for the wealthy. Doesn’t sound like a Republican to me!
This may help explain it. Conservatives have been refining the art of duping chumps by appealing to their fears and lowest, self serving instincts for many years. Remember that half of humanity is literally below average. Since every vote counts equally, the fact some of us can be so easily led must be countered by the rest of us.
Exactly what I’ve been saying for the past three elections. Any man who doesn’t make over 200k a year and is voting Republican is an idiot, and any woman who votes for them, no matter how much she makes, is similarly an idiot.
Don’t forget Log Cabin Republicans, which makes even less sense than female Republicans.
oh, brother! you are one hundred twenty percent right about that. Jesus was all love, and the Republican party is all Hatred.
“Send in the clowns. Don’t bother. They’re here.”
I consider the republicans the lessor of two evils. Obama is a failure but I’m sure you Obama zombies didn’t notice.
Of course, the media will never press these people to clarify what they’re talking about; nor will the media challenge anything they have to say whether it’s true or not.
Donald Trump is political Trash!
Being a Liberal also means not to believe in the blatant stupidity of some people. The Supreme Court is there to either uphold or strike down laws according to their constitutionality. They are there to interpret, not to create laws. In that sense, anything they do can be overturned, depending who is on the Supreme Court at any given time. Your definition of Liberalism is EXACTLY why you should not have defended Rand Paul over his remarks about the Supreme Court.
1. Not allowing a recount in the disputed selection of his brother, for the Presidency. Remember, W. lost the national popular vote by more than a half a million votes.
2. Terri Schiavo.
3. Prevented use of funds for stem cell research (his family could use that)
4. Allowed the institution of “Choose Life”, license plates. Yet, he supports the death penalty. (What’s the word I’m looking for?……Oh, yeah. HYPOCRITE!)
5. Climate change denier. (Moron)
