Aaron McNamara, an auxiliary officer with the Fairview Park Police Department, has resigned after extremely racist comments he made on various social media accounts came to light. McNamara repeatedly referred to African-Americans on YouTube videos as “ni**ers” and “spooks,” and said that slavery should not have been abolished.
Here are some of his comments (Quotes are uncensored):
On a video called “Hood fight”:
“Abolishing slavery was the worst thing we could’ve done. These people should be exterminated.”
On a video called “Skate park fight”:
“I wish I could go back to their age and beat the shit out of that nigger with the tapout shirt.”
On a video called “Seattle Police: ‘You are going to die'”:
“YOU CAN TAKE THE SPOOK OUT OF THE HOOD BUT YOU CAN’T TAKE THE HOOD OUT OF THE SPOOK BY SPOOK I MEAN THAT TALL NIGGER IN THE WHITE TEE WHO LOST HIS GANG BANGING BIG BROTHER WHO OBVIOUSLY DID SOME SHIT TO GET HIS BITCH ASS SHOT UP.”
On the video “Cleveland RTA bus driver uppercuts passenger”:
“I agree, but when a jungle monkey spits in your face with her bacteria infested mouth, and punches you while driving 30+ passengers you have every right to defend yourself. He didn’t need to punch her to get her off the bus but this entire world knows she deserved every finger of that devastating uppercut! HE SHOULD NOT LOSE HIS JOB! AS A MATTER OF FACT, I THINK HE DESERVES A RAISE!”
Finally on a video called “Kid Cursing Up A Storm (Part 2) Nas Explains What Happened”:
“This is how cop killers are raised my friends.”
McNamara initially tried to deny that he made the comments, but Cleveland Scene magazine proved that he was in fact, the poster. When he realized that he could no longer deny, deny, deny, he resigned from his position with the Fairview Police Department (at the department’s request) and released a statement:
“I, Aaron McNamara was recently informed of the racial remarks I posted on YouTube.com in my juvenile years. The comments I made in those particular videos were a product of my youth and immaturity; by no means am I a prejudice individual. I am an advocate for equality, and I am highly disappointed in myself for the statements I previously made.” (Read full statement here)
Chief Erich Upperman of the Fairview Police Department also released a statement saying that McNamara no longer works for the department. He also said that the behavior exhibited by the officer was not tolerated by the department whether it be from real police officers or volunteers like McNamara.
It’s great that the police department forced him to hand in a resignation. As we’ve seen lately, too many departments allow this behavior to go on unchecked. It is causing a tremendous strain on community relations with the police all over the country.
If more police departments acted this way, maybe we’d have fewer Darren Wilsons running around and shooting unarmed teens.
