The Republican Party has never been a friend to the LGBTQ community. Quite the opposite, in fact, as they actively make laws to oppress these already vulnerable people on a routine basis. However, that has not stopped transgender woman and reality star Caitlyn Jenner from throwing her lot in with Trump and the GOP. In fact, during the campaign, Jenner kept reminding LGBTQ people that Trump had promised to protect us. Well, Jenner’s foolish decision to stick with a party that hates her now that she has transitioned has backfired, as the Trump Administration has rolled back Obama-era protections for the treatment of transgender school children.
Jenner took to Twitter to express her outrage at what Trump has done, calling his decision a “disaster.”

Included in the tweet above, as you can see, is a video as well. Jenner tries to appeal to GOP kinship with Trump, but it wasn’t kind. She also praised America’s transgender youth, saying:
“I have a message to the trans kids of America. You’re winning. I know it doesn’t feel like it today or every day, but you’re winning. Very soon we will win full freedom nationwide and it is going be with bipartisan support. You can check out the National Center for Transgender Equality and letting Washington hear you loud and clear.”
“Now, I have a message to the bullies: YOU’RE SICK. And because you’re weak you pick on kids or you pick on women or anyone else you think is vulnerable. Apparently, even becoming the Attorney General isn’t enough to cure some people of their insecurities. As proof, the Supreme Court will soon hear a very important Title IX case, thanks to the courage of a very brave young man, Gavin Grimm. Mr. President, we’ll see you in court. Finally, I have a message for President Trump, from, well, one Republican to another. This is a DISASTER, and you can still fix it. You made a promise to protect the LGBTQ community. Call me.”
Now, I’d like to appeal to you, my dear Caitlyn. I am a member of this community as well. I am not transgender, but I am a gay woman who cannot pass for straight, even on a “good” day. I feel your pain. However, hear me loud and clear: Trump and GOP will not protect us, ever. There are a few moderate Republicans who have no problem with LGBTQ people, but, by and large, the Republican Party HATES us. ACTIVELY. Please know this, and side with those who will protect us – especially our very vulnerable youth.
Thank you for this brave video. Hopefully, someone hears you from your Republican Party. I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one, though.
