White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was (once again) put in a very tough spot when she was tasked with defending President Trump’s recent comments that he received a call from Mexican President Mr. Peña Nieto complimenting him on his border actions.

Trump made the comments while praising his new chief of staff John Kelly’s work as the head of the Department of Homeland Security, saying:

“And even the president of Mexico called me—they said their southern border, very few people are coming because they know they’re not going to get through our border, which is the ultimate compliment,”

We now know that call never took place. The Mexican President’s spokesman came out on Wednesday saying it not only never happened, but the last time the two leaders spoke was at the G-20 meeting in Germany on July 7. The subject of immigration did come up but it was informative, not congratulatory.

When Press Secretary Sanders was pressed on this by a reporter, she admitted that the ‘phone call did not take place.’ Which in essence, is the same thing as saying the president lied about it. But, she didn’t want to call it a bold faced lie, saying they simply talked one on one.

By making this statement, she’s also calling Mexico President Peña Nieto a liar, too. He said he never praised Trump on his immigration plan, and to do so would be ‘political suicide’ in his home country given Trump’s 3% approval rating there.

Does President Trump have memory problems?

Trump also went on the record recently with the Wall Street Journal after his speech in front of thousands of Boy Scouts in West Virginia, saying that the head of the Scouts called him to personally tell him it was “the greatest speech that was ever made to them.”

That call, too, never happened.

The organization told TIME magazine that not only did such a call not take place with anyone from national leadership but the speech was, in fact, not the greatest.

The Chief Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, even released a statement saying that they “sincerely regret that politics were inserted into the Scouting program,” referring to Trump’s politically charged rhetoric.

The President told the Wall Street Journal that everyone “loved it.”

“I’d be the first to admit mixed. I’m a guy that will tell you mixed,” Trump responded. “There was no mix there. That was a standing ovation from the time I walked out to the time I left, and for five minutes after I had already gone. There was no mix.”

For sure, if you review the tape, there was definitely a huge cheering crowd. No one is going to call the president a liar about that, but to magically assume in his head that he received a phone call afterward saying it was the “greatest ever” is just blatantly dishonest.

And, there are even more Trump lies. It just doesn’t stop.

Last year on the campaign trail, Trump said he met with a “top” Chicago police officer, who he claimed agreed with him on stopping much of the violence in Chicago if only tough policies like Trumps were put into place.

“I went to a top police officer in Chicago, who is not the police chief and I could see by the way he was dealing with his people…he was rough-tough guy..they respected him greatly. I said ‘how do you think you do it?’ He said, ‘Mr. Trump, within one week we could stop much of this horror-show that is going on.”

It turns out, though. That never happened. They could never locate the “top cop” Trump was referring to. Because of this, the Chicago Police Department issued an official response denying such a conversation ever took place:

“We’ve discredited this claim months ago,” CPD spokesperson Frank Giancamilli said in a statement. “No one in the senior command at CPD has ever met with Donald Trump or a member of his campaign.”

Trump must be living in some kind of fantasy world. That, or he’s just been getting away with lying without repercussions for too long now.
