Before we get into all the specifics, Trump said one thing, in particular, that’s getting the attention of everybody. We aren’t even talking about partisan politics here, or Russia interference, etc. No, that’s not what stands out the most.

What’s more important is Trump being able to answer simple things like, where is the White House located? Or who was the first President of the United States? You know, basic stuff.

So, here’s what happened: when answering one of Hallie’s questions about whether he thought Russia was involved in hacking the 2016 presidential election, he stated he didn’t even know how many intelligence agencies the United States has. He actually said this. Here’s part of his statement:

“I heard it was 17 agencies, do we even have that many intelligence agencies? Right, let’s check. We did some heavy research, it turned out to be three or four. It wasn’t 17.”

For the record, the U.S. intelligence community includes 17 separate agencies and they all issued a joint statement via the Department of Homeland Security and Office of the Director of National Intelligence on Oct. 7, 2016, saying that the U.S. intelligence community was confident that hacks into the email systems of the Democratic Party and its officials were directed by “Russia’s senior most officials.”

Our point is a simple one, if you’re going to be President of the United States, you need to know how many intelligence agencies there are.

The other thing Trump said that’s alarming, but consistent up to this point, is the fact that he still doubts Russia hacked the U.S.

“I think it was Russia. And I think it could have been other people and other countries. It could have been a lot of people interfered.”

Yet – there is no evidence other countries were involved in the cyber attacks. The intelligence community has said this already. So, once again, Trump is attacking the intelligence community.

In any case, President Trump can’t even answer basic facts about government. That’s a serious problem.
