WATCH: Chuck Schumer Fires Back At Trump For Calling Him A ‘Clown’ With The PERFECT Response

Donald Trump tweeted a pathetic call for unity on Tuesday morning by referring to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as a “clown.” Schumer didn’t hesitate to return fire and proved he is the adult in the room.

In a rant about Obamacare, Trump personally and publicly insulted Schumer.

If Trump really expected that Schumer would not respond, he was wrong.

During a press conference with reporters, something Donald Trump refuses to take part in, Schumer said that Trump should stop using Twitter and start putting forward solutions to the problems at hand. He also reminded the billionaire that Obamacare is crucial to the health of millions of Americans.

“I’d say to president-elect that this is serious, serious stuff,” Schumer began. “People’s health is at stake, people’s lives are at stake. Now, we understand that President-elect Trump is in a difficult spot, that Republicans are in a difficult spot. They want to repeal the ACA, and they have no idea how to replace it.”

Indeed, the only solution to fixing the minor problems with Obamacare Republicans have offered is a full repeal of the Affordable Care Act, which would strip millions of Americans of their health insurance and reverse all the fixes to the healthcare system Obamacare provided. Trump has also not provided any solutions of his own, something that Schumer was quick to remind everyone.

“Instead of calling names, [the] president-elect should roll up his sleeves and show us a replacement plan that will cover the 20 million Americans who gained coverage, that will cover students or post-college students, 21 to 26, who want to stay on their parents plan, that will show how we cover people with pre-existing conditions. So I’d say to the president-elect and the Republicans that this is not a time for calling names. It’s time for them to step up if they want to repeal, and show us what they replace it with.”

Despite being viciously attacked over the course of eight years, President Obama never resorted to insulting Republicans the way Trump is insulting Democrats now. He and his Republican allies are not only rolling around in the political ditch, they are digging that ditch deeper. Nobody is saying that Obamacare doesn’t need to be tweaked, but repealing it is not the answer and would only hurt millions of Americans, including many who voted for Trump.
