That’s possibly the most honest thing Sarah Huckabee Sanders has ever said into a microphone. She was, of course, referring to the 26 percent of America that handed Trump an electoral win last November. Sanders was speaking at a press briefing Thursday, where the subject of Trump’s sexist attack on Mika Brzezinski on Twitter was raised by numerous reporters. But it was the only honest thing she said about the incident.

Attempting to deflect from the misogynist nature of the tweet, Sanders pivoted:

The president in no way form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence. If anything, quite the contrary, he was simply pushing back and defending himself.”

The thing is, nobody accused Trump of promoting violence — In this tweet. But true to form for everyone associated with the Commander-in-Sheesh, Sanders was trying to put out a fire with gasoline. It takes literally no time whatsoever to find a bunch of instances where Trump did, in fact, promote violence:

You catch the date on that? That was before Trump was even the Republican nominee. The next day, Trump was on Fox saying “Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.”

I know you don’t need a list of examples, because if you’re literate enough to read this article, your brain probably also processes historical facts in a linear way. But here’s a couple more, just to get you madder at the lies coming out of Sanders’ face:

  • Feb 1, 2016: “So if you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously. Just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees. I promise.”
  • Three weeks later: “I’d like to punch him in the face, I’ll tell you.”
  • March 9, 2016: “In the good old days, this doesn’t happen, because they used to treat them very, very rough. And when they protested once, they would not do it again so easily.”
  • Two days later: “Part of the problem, and part of the reason it takes so long [to remove protesters], is nobody wants to hurt each other any more, right?”

But Trump hasn’t just suggested beating up protesters. In August, just before the election, Trump made a thinly-veiled reference to actually murdering Hillary Clinton:

If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people – maybe there is, I don’t know.”

He has always known his supporters were violent people, and called them that to their faces — to the sounds of everyone cheering. On December 16 at a victory rally, Trump heralded the crowd:

You people were vicious, violent, screaming, ‘Where’s the wall? We want the wall!’ Screaming, ‘Prison! Prison! Lock her up!’ I mean you are going crazy. I mean, you were nasty and mean and vicious and you wanted to win, right?”

Perhaps Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be better served not bringing up things nobody’s accused Trump of — today.
