Donald Trump’s second trip overseas is shaping up to be just as bad as his first one, as he seems hellbent on destroying America’s relationships with other world leaders once again.
Earlier today, during a meeting with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto at the G20 Summit, Trump basically told Pena Nieto that Mexico would “absolutely” be paying for his moronic border wall.
As reporters shouted questions at Trump during their meeting, reporters asked Trump whether or not Mexico would still be paying for the border wall that most Americans don’t even want, and Trump’s response was “Absolutely.”
As soon as this happened, reporters pretty much went nuts to make sure this wouldn’t get buried under the news about Trump’s meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Trump just can’t avoid pissing other world leaders off. Both Mexico’s current and former presidents have publicly stated – many times – that Mexico would not be paying for the wall.
Trump’s insistence that the country fund the cost for the wall has damaged his relationship with Mexico’s current president before – after Trump began his term, he was supposed to meet with Pena Nieto. Unfortunately, this meeting was shut down as Pena Nieto canceled it after a public disagreement with Trump over the wall.
Trump himself has had trouble justifying how the wall would be paid for. With Mexico refusing to fund the cost, he’s tried to convince the American people that taxpayers would foot the bill and eventually the country would be “reimbursed” by Mexico. The Mexican government has repeatedly stated that no such reimbursement is going to occur.
Nevertheless, Trump still can’t help himself from burning bridges everywhere he goes. You can watch him disrespect Mexico’s president to his face below:
