Karma came for GOP whip Steve Scalise at the Republican congressional baseball team’s practice session in Alexandria, Virginia on Wednesday in the form of a bullet fired from one of those guns the Right tells us don’t make us unsafe all the time.
Reportedly the shooter, armed with an M4 assault rifle, fired 50 rounds at the baseball team. The barrage of fire struck Scalise and four other people as they scrambled for safety.
“Are those Republicans or Democrats out there practicing?” the shooter reportedly asked Rep. Jeff Duncan before he opened fire.

Four others were also caught up in the gunfire.
GOP Rep. Mo Brooks told CNN the shooter as a “white male,” though he says he’s not sure about that (which leave room for the traditional Republican claim that a dark-skinned Muslim did it).
For those who don’t know who Scalise is, he is a man who regularly promotes and defends Donald Trump’s agenda and who spoke at a white supremacist rally in 2002.
Scalise has an A+ rating from the NRA — brags about it on his website, actually, adding that he has “sponsored and cosponsored legislation protecting citizens’ right to keep and bear arms.”
Donald Trump, who regularly ignores shootings committed by people who cannot immediately be identified as Muslims, quickly sent out his “thoughts and prayers.”

The NRA, thus far, is silent — thought we’re sure their solution to this sort of violence is more guns.
