It can easily be said that Donald Trump and those he surrounds himself with are in major spin mode after it was revealed that Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort took a meeting with several Kremlin connected individuals who supposedly had opposition research on Hillary Clinton.
And while collecting opposition research is part of every political campaign, collecting it from a foreign adversary absolutely is not.
However, Trump is steadfast in his effort to make his son look not guilty, and while doing so, he makes himself look guilty.
On Monday morning, Trump tweeted out:
“Most politicians would have gone to a meeting like the one Don jr attended in order to get info on an opponent. That’s politics!”

No, Donnie. That could be considered treason! Don Jr. sought opposition research from a foreign adversary to affect the outcome of the American electoral process.
“Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere…”
Trump Jr. met with these Russians to affect the election from Trump Tower. This is not okay by any means. This can be considered a federal crime, and trying to spin his way out of it only implicates Trump himself. If he thinks it was fine, what the hell else does he think is fine?
Apparently, he thinks treason is fine if he’s the one doing it.
Something tells us this is only the tip of a very, very large iceberg. The coming weeks and months are going to be interesting.
