Donald Trump has continually gushed over various dictators from around the world. After singing the praises of Vladimir Putin at every opportunity, Trump has also taken a liking to Kim Jong Un. Despite the recent rise in tensions between North Korea and the United States, Trump said he “would be honored” to meet with the murderous autocrat.
If it would be appropriate for me to meet with him, I would absolutely, I would be honored to do it,” Trump told Bloomberg. “Most political people would never say that, but I’m telling you under the right circumstances I would meet with him.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has spouted off about how impressive he think the North Korean madman is as a leader. During an interview with ABC’s John Dickerson, which aired on Sunday, Trump had great things to say about Kim Jong Un’s ability to hold onto power through murder. Asked what he thought of the North Korean dictator, Trump gave a jaw-dropping response.
“I have — I really, you know, have no comment on him. People are saying, “Is he sane?” I have no idea. I can tell you this, and a lot of people don’t like when I say it, but he was a young man of 26 or 27 when he took over from his father when his father died. He’s dealing with obviously very tough people, in particular, the generals and others,” Trump said.
“And at a very young age, he was able to assume power. A lot of people, I’m sure, tried to take that power away, whether it was his uncle or anybody else. And he was able to do it. So obviously, he’s a pretty smart cookie,” he concluded.
Trump also told his supporters what a great guy Kim Jong Un was during his campaign. In January 2016, while speaking at a campaign rally in Iowa, Trump said he was a “maniac,” but “you’ve got to give him credit.”
“How many young guys — he was like 26 or 25 when his father died — take over these tough generals and all of a sudden, you know, it’s pretty amazing when you think of it. How does he do that?” Trump said.
“Even though it is a culture, and it’s a culture thing, he goes in, he takes over, he’s the boss. It’s incredible,” he added.
Does this bother anybody else? The leader of the free world is enamored by leaders who take away freedom. That’s some scary shit, and we’re running out of time to stop him before it’s too late. Something to think about.
