Donald Trump’s Friday was over before it even started. He kicked the morning off by going on an insane Twitter rant about pretty much everything from terrorism to ESPN to filibusters, and got shot down on every single one of those topics.
What Trump probably didn’t expect was that he would get put in his place by a former Obama official, and it’s completely ruined his day. Early this morning, Trump tried to say that he’d done more to fight ISIS than former President Barack Obama.
He tweeted:
We have made more progress in the last nine months against ISIS than the Obama Administration has made in 8 years. Must be proactive and nasty!”
Then, Former Obama White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Alyssa Mastromonaco, told Trump to sit the hell down with this epic tweet:
Let us know when you kill Bin Laden.”
It was absolutely brilliant and provided the brutal reality check that Trump and his fans desperately need. Trump doesn’t actually have solutions for handling ISIS, he just says he is going to be “nasty” and “proactive.” Those aren’t policies or plans – but what else is new?
What Mastromonaco hilariously pointed out is a truth that Trump continues to run from – the fact that he will NEVER measure up to Obama. The reason that Trump is so obsessed with tarnishing the legacy of his predecessor is solely because he knows this is true. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t even come close to filling the shoes of our last (real) president.
Trump is not a leader. He doesn’t know how to be the President of the United States. He will forever live in the shadow of Obama, and all Mastromonaco did was brilliantly remind him of his fate.
