Donald Trump is (unfortunately) the President of the United States. But he has no clue what the hell is going on — particularly the fact that Puerto Rico was in massive trouble for four days before he actually responded to it. Why?
He was too busy tweeting and attacking professional athletes to care.
That’s right. Trump turned his back on the disaster in Puerto Rico for four days because he was obsessively whining and tweeting about NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem. The Washington Post examined the timeline of how long it took Trump to react, and this is what it looked like:
As Hurricane Maria made landfall on Wednesday, Sept. 20, there was a frenzy of activity publicly and privately. The next day, President Trump called local officials on the island, issued an emergency declaration and pledged that all federal resources would be directed to help. But then for four days after that — as storm-ravaged Puerto Rico struggled for food and water amid the darkness of power outages — Trump and his top aides effectively went dark themselves. Trump jetted to New Jersey that Thursday night to spend a long weekend at his private golf club there, save for a quick trip to Alabama for a political rally. Neither Trump nor any of his senior White House aides said a word publicly about the unfolding crisis.”
Of course, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tried to deny this:
However, a Washington Post reporter pushed back:
Supporting the report by the Washington Post, Trump had zero calls scheduled with local officials – but this weekend he suddenly had several:
Unlike last weekend when we couldn’t find evidence of a single call Trump made to local officials on the storm, he has 5 on sked tomorrow pic.twitter.com/6y7PvuhS2T

Trump was not even briefed on the crisis in Puerto Rico while he was bashing NFL players, because clearly, he is too emotionally unstable to be approached by his own administration. The truth is that Trump turned his back on US citizens, and although he is finally going to Puerto Rico on Tuesday, we all know that’s far too late. This man does not give a damn about America’s citizens.
