Rumors are beginning to swirl across social media that a sealed indictment has been issued against Donald Trump. The rumor was first reported by Louise Mensch and Claude Taylor on Mensch’s “Patribotics” website, where they say:
“Separate sources with links to the intelligence and justice communities have stated that a sealed indictment has been granted against Donald Trump.”
The indictment, if real, would form the basis for impeachment procedures, but not for direct prosecution of Trump:
“[S]ources say that the indictment is intended by the FBI and prosecutors in the Justice Department to form the basis of Mr. Trump’s impeachment. The indictment is, perhaps uniquely, not intended or expected to be used for prosecution, sources say, because of the constitutional position of the President.”
None of the major news organizations have confirmation of this yet (or if they do, they haven’t yet reported it), however, it’s important to note that both Mensch and Taylor have been right about things before. In fact, it was Mensch who first reported on the FISA warrants granted to the FBI last year as part of their investigation into connections between Russia and the Trump campaign.
Even Rick Wilson, who can’t be considered left-leaning at all, acknowledges that:
Remember: Louise was first and right on the initial FISA warrants. Claude was right on the EVDA etc. https://t.co/u63BxNGwRy

Claude Taylor is a former White House official under Bill Clinton, and has been right about certain key things as well.
Trump has been facing withering criticism in the press and among lawmakers for his firing of FBI director James Comey following Comey’s testimony to the Senate, and also following expansion of the FBI’s Russia investigation to include convening a grand jury. That grand jury has begun issuing subpoenas for documents related to the Russia case.
If this is true, then Congressional Republicans will have a hard time justifying not doing anything about it. Indictments aren’t issued against anybody without serious evidence supporting the charges.
This is a developing story.
