Robert Lee IV Honors Heather Heyer, Denounces Racism At MTV Video Music Awards (VIDEO)

Pastor Robert Lee IV, a descendant of Robert E. Lee, stood up in front of millions on Sunday night pleading with Americans, and people across the world, to denounce racism and the Nazis who are making the statue of his ancestor an “idol of white supremacy, racism, and hate.”

As a Pastor, it is my moral duty to speak out against racism, America’s original sin.

After taking a pause during a moment of resounding applause and nods from celebrities and audience members of all races, Pastor Lee continued:

Today I call on all of us with privilege and power to answer God’s call to confront racism and white supremacy head on!

We can find inspiration in the Black Lives Matter movement, from the women who marched in the Women’s March in January, and ESPECIALLY Heather Heyer, who died fighting for her beliefs in Charlottesville.”

Pastor Lee then introduced Susan Bro, mother of Heather Heyer — the young woman who was violently murdered by a Nazi terrorist in Charlottesville — who is “continuing to magnify Heather’s work” by announcing the launch of the Heather Heyer Foundation, which she has started in order to raise scholarship money for students hoping to pursue careers in education, law, and social justice issues.

In a very moving tribute, Bro said:

Only 15 days ago, my daughter Heather was killed as she protested racism. I miss her but I know she’s here tonight.

I have been deeply moved to see people across the world — the whole world — find inspiration in her courage.

An emotional Mrs. Bro continues:

I want people to know that Heather never marched alone. She was always joined by people from every race and every background in this country.

You can see both heartfelt speeches here:

Robert Lee IV and Susan Bro were not the only ones who spoke on the issue of racism, but perhaps some of the loudest words came from Paris Jackson — daughter of the late, great Michael Jackson — who not only denounced racism, she ripped it a new one!

Watch:

They are all right! We cannot let these Nazi “jerks,” as Jackson calls them take over this country! “We must resist!”
