By now, everyone is used to Donald Trump’s crazy early morning Twitter rants. On Thursday, though, Trump hit a new low on Twitter, even by usual Trumpian standards. He was enraged by the fact that Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, co-hosts of Morning Joe, have been telling it like it is when it comes to his dumpster fire of a presidency. Finally, Trump lashed out in an unhinged rant in which he accused Mika of being wounded from plastic surgery at his New Year’s Eve party at Mar-a-Lago – in some truly gross and misogynistic terms.
Well, an MSNBC Executive has responded to requests for comment on the attacks, and his answer to Trump’s disgusting remarks is absolutely brilliant. Mark Kornblau tweeted:
Never imagined a day when I would think to myself, ‘it is beneath my dignity to respond to the President of the United States.”

And yet, here we are. Then again, considering the kind of undignified – to put it kindly – campaign Trump and his goons ran, of course his presidency is more of the same. The unhinged Twitter rants, the personal attacks, the petty nicknames for anyone who dares to offer the slightest bit of criticism, his hot war with the free press and even specific journalists and media outlets – all of it is historically unpresidential.
This is no longer about politics. It is about Trump’s regular and unending debasement of the highest office in our land. Until now, every person who has had the enormous privilege and responsibility of holding that office has done so with the utmost dignity when it came to the standards of his time. However, Trump has smashed all of that into pieces, and in turn, forever tarnished what was once the greatest office in the world.
Shame on us, America, for electing this cretin. We’ll forever pay a price for it – as we deserve to.
