Once again, Donald Trump has made America an international laughingstock.
Trump’s forays into the world of diplomatic relations took yet another humiliating turn this week when transcripts of phone conversations between himself and the leaders of Mexico and Australia were leaked to the public for all to see.
One transcript featured a call to Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, in which Trump whined about having to honor a refugee deal struck between the two nations in 2015. Turnbull basically told Trump to man up because “a deal is a deal.”
The call with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto was even more embarrassing as Trump begged Nieto to stop publicly declaring that Mexico will not pay for his dumb border wall.
“Believe it or not, this is the least important thing that we are talking about, but politically this might be the most important,” Trump said, admitting that his wall is nothing more than something to appease his racist base.
“My position has been and will continue to be very firm saying that Mexico cannot pay for that wall,” Nieto replied, causing to Trump to beg him to not say that publicly because it will damage him politically.
“But you cannot say that to the press,” Trump said. “The press is going to go with that and I cannot live with that.”
Clearly, the failure to force Mexico into paying for his wall is a sore spot.
Trump’s massive failure at diplomacy amused a Mexican diplomat so much that he texted a wicked burn to senior Mexican diplomat Jorge Guajardo.
“He’s the opposite of Teddy Roosevelt,” the fellow diplomat wrote. “He speaks loudly and carries a small stick.”
The word “small” is going to particularly sting Trump considering Trump is obsessed with the size of his hands and penis, both of which are reportedly smaller than average.
The remark certainly helped Guajardo start his day with a laugh. That’s because it’s true.
Trump whines a lot and makes a lot of threats. He’s bombastic and frequently brags about himself as if people are supposed to be so impressed that they’ll do anything he wants them to do. He’s all talk and no walk.
And diplomats around the globe think Trump is a joke.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to around the world is laughing,” Guajardo says.
Donald Trump is an embarrassment who has turned our nation into a global punchline. Our reputation has never been worse on the international stage. How can we expect to be a world leader when the president acts like a whining buffoon every day? If our reputation is going to recover, we’ll have to do it by getting rid of Trump first. Until then, America will only continue to be laughed at.
