Melania Trump Trapped In Hamburg Residence Because Of Protests (DETAILS/TWEETS)

First lady Melania Trump cannot leave her residence in Hamburg, Germany because of protests besieging the city against the Group of 20 (G-20) summit. Melania and her husband are staying at a government-owned Hamburg guest house because Trump, a hotel magnate, failed to reserve a room – at a hotel.

According to a spokeswoman, Ms. Trump does not have security clearance from the police to leave the guest house because of the protests and added that “it’s unfortunate,” according to NBC News reporter Hallie Jackson.

On Friday, Melania, the wife of the man who blasted protesters during speeches, also tweeted that she’s thinking of those who have been hurt in the protests and hopes “everyone stay safe.” [sic]

Melania Trump was blocked by protesters from reaching the event organized for the spouses of leaders at the G20 summit.

According to The Telegraph, Angela Merkel’s husband, Joachim Sauer, was hosting the event for the spouses. But a spokesman for the US delegation said they had been unable to get security clearance for Melania to travel to the event.

“We have no security clearance from the police to leave the guesthouse,” Melania Trump’s spokesperson told German media.

Protesters are calling it a ‘success.’

Earlier this morning, police cleared a sit-in protest where protesters blocked the route for Trump’s motorcade to the summit. The former reality show star was forced to take a detour.

According to police, a helicopter was nearly struck by a rocket flare set off by protesters. Thirty people in total have been arrested and clashes between protesters are expected throughout the day as 100,000 protesters are expected to appear over the course of the summit. So far, 150 law enforcement officers have been injured.

Meanwhile, at the G20 summit, Mr. Trump is busy unleashing mean-girl tweets while giving a shout-out to his ‘haters.’ _(ツ)_/¯
