GOP Senators Rebuke Trump In Futile Effort To Try To Make Him Act Presidential (TWEETS)

Ever since Donald Trump launched his travesty of a bid for the presidency, establishment members of the Republican Party have been begging him to be more presidential. They kept hoping in vain that he would rise to the dignity of a major party nominee once it was clear that no one else could beat him, but of course, that never happened. Once Trump won the Electoral College, they continued to hope that the gravity of the office would force Trump to shape up. However, now that we are six months into his presidency, anyone who has watched this Trumpster fire for the last two and a half years realizes that Trump is never going to change. He is incapable of it. He is a toddler in a 71-year-old man’s body, and so he shall remain.

This is not stopping leading Republicans from speaking out, though, when he really goes off the rails, as he did on Thursday morning when he lashed out at Mika Brzezinski, c0-host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe in what is a disgusting attack, even for Trump. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) tweeted:

Rising Republican star and frequent Trump critic Ben Sasse (R-NE) followed suit, tweeting:

Gentleman, I don’t agree with your politics at all, but I do appreciate what you are trying to do. However, it is a futile effort. Trump won’t stop and he won’t change. His very candidacy disgraced the nation, and his so-called “presidency” will only continue to be more of the same. Do the nation a favor, and craft legislation stripping him and his White House of as much power as possible, be a check on him and make sure he can’t make things any worse. Remember, there’s a reason Congress is Article 1 of the Constitution, and the Executive Branch is Article 2. Now is the time to put country before party and do something about this unhinged man.
