Conservatives on the internet lost their collective sh*t on Monday after a quote from a Republican senator about the health care debate got their panties in a bunch.

When speaking to Politico, Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah delivered a quote that sent conservatives into an uproar when discussing the GOP’s failed attempt to repeal (and possibly replace, but mostly just repeal) former President Obama’s signature health care law.

We’re not going back to health care. We’re in tax now. As far as I’m concerned, they shot their wad on health care and that’s the way it is. I’m sick of it,” Hatch said.

Not surprisingly, Republican voters on Twitter proceeded to lose their ever loving minds over the senator’s remarks. Specifically, they took issue with his claim that the GOP had “shot their wad,” a phrase that carries certain sexual connotations.

In response, Sen. Hatch’s office posted on Twitter to school the internet on the various meanings behind this particular phrase, explaining that it technically means “to do all that one can do” and is a reference to the material that guns were plugged with back in the day — not, ahem, well, you know.

Unfortunately for Hatch, the Twitter users still aren’t done with him.

There were more, but the most hilarious ones are too obscene to share here. In the meantime, Hatch added that while his panel would be dealing with an extension of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in September, he sincerely hopes that his fellow Republicans can turn their attention to tax reform and just let go of their dream of repealing Obamacare for now.
