As we all know, Russia maliciously targeted the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton and spread misinformation in an effort to help Trump win the 2016 election.

Trump’s collusion with Russia has since been proven thanks to a email conversation showing that Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort met with a Kremlin-linked lawyer and former Soviet intelligence officer at Trump Tower to get dirt on Clinton.

At this point, it is clear that Russia interfered with our election to help Trump win.

But Fox News correspondent Catherine Herridge claims that Russia “collected and spread negative information” to hurt Trump.

Indeed, there was a dossier, which included a report on Trump’s infatuation with “golden showers.” But that was funded by Republicans who opposed him and the media has widely questioned the dossier’s authenticity.

In fact, the dossier wasn’t publicly disclosed until months after the election took place. And if Herridge is claiming that Russia spread misinformation about Trump during the election, there doesn’t appear to be much evidence of her claims. And even if she is right, it doesn’t negate the fact that Russia worked with Trump’s campaign and interfered in the election to help him win.

Nonetheless, Trump still took to Twitter to whine about how the media is reporting on this and that Herridge’s report somehow proves that the Russia investigation is a “witch hunt.”

Trump is clearly desperate to derail the Russia investigation. But a claim by Fox News won’t do it, especially when evidence of collusion exists via emails released by Trump’s own son. As Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller and his team continue to dig deeper, Trump’s fear of being caught committing treason grows. And he should be very afraid right now.
