Former FBI Director James Comey took an apparent jab at Donald Trump with the title of his upcoming book: “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership” and then on Twitter when he retweeted the story from Mike Allen of Axios, adding, “Lordy, I hope there are pictures.”
Earlier this year, Trump suggested that his conversation with the former FBI Director was taped. “Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!” Trump said. In response, Comey said, “Lordy, I hope there are tapes.”
With the book title, Comey appears to be referencing Trump’s alleged demands for his “loyalty” before the former reality show star abruptly fired him in May. Trump told Comey, “I need loyalty.”

Why it matters: Comey kept notes and showed during his testimony that he has an eye and voice for vivid, novelistic detail. He was fired. And the multimillion-dollar book deal — brokered by Javelin, with Flatiron Books. Means, motive, opportunity. This should be good!
“It’s a book about leadership and his search for truth, informed by lessons and experiences he’s had throughout his career, including his recent experiences in the Trump administration,” Matt Latimer, a partner with Javelin publishing company, told The New York Times. “It will speak to a broader desire in our country for more ethical leadership.”

A lot of Internet sleuths believed that @FormerBu’s Twitter account was Comey’s but he didn’t out himself until a few days ago when he suddenly added a picture for his avatar with a bio that reads, “Former FBI Director, current husband and father, writing and speaking about ethical leadership, wears running shoes to exercise, taller and funnier in person.” He should have added: Shade thrower.
