It’s one thing to have people who don’t share the same values as you disagree with your decisions, but when a member of your squad points out the errors of your ways… that should be something to consider.
But clearly, people like Donald Trump don’t value the opinions of his team members. That is evident with his latest decision regarding the climate deal with Paris. Trump pulled out of the deal that his own Defense Secretary, Jim Mattis, warned him against doing.
According to ProPublica, Mattis told Democratic Senators that climate change is a threat to national security, which Trump has referred to as just a hoax at a 2015 rally.
“Obama’s talking about all of this with the global warming and…a lot of it’s a hoax. It’s a hoax. I mean, it’s a money-making industry, OK? It’s a hoax, a lot of it.”
However, just a few months ago in March, Mattis stood firm in his belief that climate change could hurt the nation.
“Climate change can be a driver of instability and the Department of Defense must pay attention to potential adverse impacts generated by this phenomenon.”
Trump’s right-hand man also said that in the event any changes were to happen to the climate, he would take action immediately.
“I agree that the effects of a changing climate — such as increased maritime access to the Arctic, rising sea levels, desertification, among others — impact our security situation. I will ensure that the department continues to be prepared to conduct operations today and in the future, and that we are prepared to address the effects of a changing climate on our threat assessments, resources, and readiness.”
Climate change is beyond politics. Mattis is looking at the future of the World with a focus on the nation, which is smart. He is standing up for what is right. Way more of what could be said for Donald Trump who doesn’t think of anyone but himself. For more details view the video below.
