America has been absolutely shocked by the recent unexpected shooting of Republican Whip Steve Scalise and four others at a baseball game, and details are still emerging about the incident.
In response to the incident, Donald Trump offered an uncharacteristically measured, oddly appropriate response as he sent the Louisiana Republican a supportive message via his favorite announcement platform, Twitter.
Trump actually did a good thing by keeping his response short and neutral (for now at least), but what his son did was an entirely different story. Once again proving that even in the rare moments when it looks like Trump is behaving himself, we can always count on his team and loved ones to pick up the slack. Trump’s most outspoken, idiotic son, Donald Trump Jr., quickly stepped in to make up for everything Trump didn’t say by giving his own irrelevant opinion – and he probably should have just kept his mouth shut.
Donald Trump Jr., who loves a good conspiracy theory just as much as his father, zeroed in on reports that stated the gunman had asked whether the politicians at the baseball game were Democrats or Republicans before opening fire. In his moronic response, Trump Jr. not only retweeted a report about those claims, but he validated another tweet in which a conservative linked the attack to a recent production of Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar,” which shows the president being assassinated.
And Trump Jr. wasn’t the only one on Trump’s team to make this political link. Former Trump campaign manager and current White House adviser Kellyanne Conway also spread the word of there being possible political motives behind the shooting, although her response was far better than Trump Jr.’s.
Thanks to the influence of Trump’s inner circle, we can only expect that he is going to go off the rails over this incident soon.
