Over the weekend, Ivanka Trump, daughter of Donald Trump and a person with no official title nor role but has an office in the White House, was allowed to sit with world leaders at the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany.
“A photo of the first daughter sitting next to Chinese President Xi Jinping, British Prime Minister Theresa May, Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.”
“A senior Trump administration official confirmed that Ivanka Trump had stepped in for her father, but dismissed any suggestion it was improper or unusual.”
Needless to say at this point, but seeing the daughter of the president, a person who doesn’t have an elected position nor official role, sitting with world leaders, it did not go over well with the American public. We’re not a monarchy where she can sit in as a princess for the king — she’s a private citizen who’s given the ability to do whatever she pleases because her daddy is *president.
Well, Trump did not take kindly to the fact that people were upset that he’s giving his daughter privileges she absolutely shouldn’t have. So, in defense, he decided to try and throw Chelsea Clinton under the bus, because why not, right?
Trump tweeted out:
“If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother,as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!”

This tweet is sad and pathetic on so many levels. First of all, he really needs to get over the election and face the fact that he did something wrong and has every right to be criticized for it. Secondly, Hillary Clinton would know what she’s doing and would never place her daughter in that position because she actually respects the United States.
Lastly, Chelsea Clinton reiterated this point with a tweet of her own in response, and it was glorious. Using Trump’s own words against him, she tweeted:
“Good morning Mr. President. It would never have occurred to my mother or my father to ask me. Were you giving our country away? Hoping not.”

And she’s exactly right. If Trump thinks Chelsea sitting at the table was giving the “country away” then wouldn’t that mean that’s exactly what he did with Ivanka. That he was, in fact, being irresponsible. Sure seems that way.
Chelsea also doesn’t seem to give a rat’s ass what Trump thinks of her or her family and that’s amazing in and of itself.
To be honest, Donald Trump is his own worst enemy. Everything he says and tweets can be thrown directly back into his face almost immediately. He’s not that bright despite what he thinks.
Well played, Chelsea!
