Don’t let Donald Trump fool you when he says there was no collusion between his campaign and Russia, because as it would appear, that may be exactly what happened.
According to Newsweek:
“A GOP operative who claimed to be working with President Donald Trump’s former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn embarked on an extensive online search for Hillary Clinton’s emails before the 2016 election, suspecting they were hacked by Russia.”
“Individuals who Peter W. Smith tried to recruit in his quest to scour hacker forums, and others within his circle, told the Wall Street Journal that Smith implied he was working with Flynn.”
Smith is known for his opposition research, so it’s not surprising that he would be looking for damaging information to utilize and use against Hillary Clinton. However, here’s the most damning part of the whole story:
“Investigators in the Russia probe have examined intelligence agency reports that show hackers planned to get emails from Clinton’s private server to Flynn through a middleman.”
Hackers were working with the person, seemingly Smith, who was getting info to the Trump campaign.
And here’s the laughable Trump campaign response to this revelation according to Newsweek:
“The White House declined to comment on the story. If Flynn coordinated with Smith, it wasn’t in his capacity as a member of the Trump campaign, a former Trump campaign official said, pointing out that Smith didn’t work for the campaign.”
Sure, Smith didn’t work directly for the Trump campaign but he seemed to be getting information to one of the Trump campaign top advisers, Mike Flynn. So, yes, there seems to be a direct connection, thus pointing out the alleged collusion.
It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how all of this unfolds in the coming weeks and months, but one thing is for certain, with each day that passes, it’s looking less and less good for Trump.
