As the Iowa Primary approaches and the tensions between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz heat up, it becomes more and more difficult to decide which candidate you actually hope to see fail.
Trump has stepped up attacks against Senator Ted Cruz since new polling shows Cruz gaining ground in Iowa among evangelicals. Donald Trump has shamelessly done everything imaginable to pander for support – from professing his deep love of the bible at Liberty University, to palling around with drunken soccer mom Sarah Palin in the hopes of capturing the idiot vote. It is said that you can judge a man by his enemies, but can you also judge a man by who endorses them? If so, then I would say the level of stupid these two men have drawn to the campaign are virtually indistinguishable from one another.
Saturday, following on the heels of Sarah Palin’s rambling, incoherent endorsement for Trump, the equally absurd Glenn Beck threw his hat in the ring by announcing he was backing Senator Ted Cruz and stated,
I’m taking a very big risk here and gambling on it, but this is how much I believe in Ted Cruz,
Beck then compared Cruz to Abraham Lincoln, a comparison that seems as delusional as it is laughable.
Beck also had sharp words about Donald Trump. After rattling off a list of complaints about Trump, including his public support of bailing out Wall Street during the financial crisis, he added, “and if Donald Trump wins, it’s going to be a snowball to hell.”
As the endorsements roll in, a lot of them from people who are actually crazier as*holes than the Republican candidates themselves, it is somehow terrifyingly comical to watch not only the total demise of the GOP but perhaps of our political system as well.
