In a development only shocking if you haven’t been paying attention for the last 18 months, Trump appointed his close friend Steve Bannon to be his White House chief strategist. He’ll function as Trump’s number 3 (just below Reince Priebus as chief of staff). He’ll get his own office in the West Wing. He’ll have the ear of the president on nearly every decision Trump may have to make.
Who is Steve Bannon? Steve Bannon, as New York Daily News columnist Shaun King bluntly put it, is an “anti-Semitic white supremacist bigot” and we’ve got the receipts to prove it.
Up until he was hired by Donald Trump to run his campaign, Bannon was spending his days running the far right website Breitbart News from his basement. He has absolutely no experience in government. But Breitbart and bannon do have a very loose interpretation of the truth and a very overt issue with people of color, people of the Jewish faith, Muslims and liberals.
The Chairman who set the tone for this site will sit in the White House as Chief Strategist and we're all supposed to pretend that's normal. pic.twitter.com/4sYiBJtlpI

The site has absolutely no qualms with making anti-Semitic attacks on journalists with whom its right-wing ideology clashes. Here’s Breitbart attacking a Jewish writer with language ripped directly from the neo-Nazi movement.
[H]ell hath no fury like a Polish, Jewish, American elitist scorned. Following the fall from grace, Applebaum began utilizing her global media contacts, disbursing heavily curated and obfuscated “facts patterns” meant to construct an anti-democratic global news narrative depicting the new democratically elected Law & Justice government as far right fascists and illiberal anti-democrats.
And here’s a Breitbart headline that needs no further comment.
The owner of that site will now be sitting a few doors down from the Oval Office.
And if racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism aren’t scary enough, Bannon is also charged as a wife-beater.
The Santa Monica, Calif., police report says that Bannon’s then-wife claimed he pulled at her neck and wrist during an altercation over their finances, and an officer reported witnessing red marks on her neck and wrist to bolster her account. Bannon also reportedly smashed the phone when she tried to call the police.
And refused to allow his daughters to attend a school with Jewish children.
“He said that he doesn’t like the way they raise their kids to be ‘whiny brats’ and that he didn’t want the girls going to school with Jews,” Piccard wrote.
“I told him that there are children who are Jewish at (a competing school), and he asked me what the percentage was. I told him that I didn’t know because it wasn’t an issue for me as I am not raising the girls to be either anti-Semitic or prejudiced against anyone,” she wrote.
The man who asked what percentage of Jewish kids were at his daughters’ school will be giving Donald Trump advice about foreign and domestic affairs on a daily basis.
So we’ll end with a little reminder.
Bannon with top WH position should surprise no one.
Unrealistic to expect Pres Trump is suddenly different person from candidate Trump.

Trump won’t change. Trump can’t change. Who he was is who he is and we are in for a scary four years.
