These Two Awesome Trans Guys Will Change How You Think About Bodies Forever (NSFW IMAGES)

Body shaming is a pretty common part of our society. We constantly drool over models with “perfect” bodies, and spend billions to look that way. For those of us who cannot achieve that level of “perfection,” life can be a series of little (and sometimes very big and painful) humiliations and reminders that we will never measure up.

Well, think about what that might mean for people who are transgender. They go through an amazingly brave – and often difficult – process in order to transition, and, often, the body insecurity there is magnified a thousandfold. Well, two wonderful transgender men are looking to change the way we think about bodies.

Meet Jason and Aydian, owner and cover model for FTM Magazine.

Jason owns FTM Magazine, and Aydian will be posing on the cover of its July issue this year. He has already been on the cover of FTM’s upcoming April 2015 issue as well.

Jason and Aydian met and became fast friends when Jason heard about Point 5cc, a clothing company Aydian founded for trans guys. After that, Aydian was featured in Jason’s magazine.

Like many people who are not comfortable with their bodies for whatever reason, Jason was very insecure.

Then he began thinking about his body, and, during his transition, found a sense of self and security. He says of the experience:

I grew up embarrassed to be in locker rooms and public showers. And finally, during my transition, with just one hand, I could actually hide the fact that I was ever trans at all. Then I realized the idea of what I was hiding under my hands isn’t what we should be concerned with. Only my fiancé and I should be concerned with that.

Armed with this newfound confidence, Jason posed almost totally nude for a Planned Parenthood advertisement.

Jason decided to try to help others find the same sense of body security that he did, especially those going through the female-to-male transition. So, he got together with Aydian and they shot their own equality photos – emulating a famous photo of Adam Levine.

Jason told UpWorthy:

Aydian’s body sorta looks like Adam Levine’s body. Society sees Adam’s body type very ‘sexy.’ I wanted to show everyone that bodies come in all sorts of different shapes, sizes. And sexy can mean different things to different people.

Sexy is in the eye of the beholder, and in your confidence and sense of self.

Anyone can be sexy. This is the part of this message that resonates the most with me. I’m not a trans guy, but I am a girl who has a lot of body image issues. These two men have, in just a few images, shown that bodies, all kinds of bodies, can be beautiful. We don’t all have to look like runway models. Your sexy is in your confidence, not your dress size, what’s between your legs, or anything else superficial.

Thanks for putting this very important message out there, Jason and Aydian. You’re helping more people with this message than you know. I know you’ve helped me.

We’re all sexy in some way. Let’s own it.
