WATCH: Female Reporter Sexually Harassed WHILE Reporting About Sexual Harassment (VIDEO)

Part of life as a woman, unfortunately, is sexual harassment. The assumption by many is that females’ bodies and faces are like a restaurant on Yelp — open to be criticized by the world — sometimes positively, sometimes negatively.

A reporter for The BBC was reporting on a story about sexual harassment — and guess what? She was sexually harassed while filming the story!

I would say that this is weirdly meta, but women are harassed so often that it’s almost surprising when a well-dressed woman doesn’t attract oglers or hecklers.

Sarah Teale was sitting outside a conference on sexual harassment at the time. She was talking about how 95 percent of people have experienced harassment. Many of those people had also been groped in the street. Just then, a man shouted something that the video bleeped and she responded, “like that.”

Later, Teale commented that she was, “genuinely shocked,” adding that:

…it’s not banter, it’s not funny and no one should have to put up with it.

Some have claimed that the harassment was fake to boost ratings, but Teale denies the allegation, stating, “it’s fairly obvious from my reaction that it wasn’t staged.”

The way I look at it is, even if it was staged, situations just like that occur before and after their cameras started rolling — and that’s the real issue, which they shed light on with their either very well-timed or very cleverly staged, report.
